A specialised Innovation Zone in Western Macedonia is being developed, focusing on start-ups, research in Hydrogen Technologies and Renewable Energy Sources, and Smart Grids using storage technologies.

Student Support

The University of Western Macedonia provides comprehensive student support through multiple dedicated units and services. The Student Welfare service provides administrative support in all activities related to student welfare, coordinating and providing high quality services and information on issues related mainly to free meals, accommodation and social welfare issues, such as student accommodation benefits. Students have the opportunity to apply for free meals through the Student Welfare Department, with meals provided free of charge for eligible students or at a cost of €2.50 per meal for those not eligible

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

The University of Western Macedonia provides student housing through Student Residences across its campuses. In Grevena, a Student Residence Hall operates where students can be accommodated, located at 42 Eirinis Street. All undergraduate students are required to submit a new electronic application each academic year for accommodation in the Student Residences, as the duration of stay expires at the end of the September examination period
