1. Academic Requirements

A recognized secondary school leaving certificate (equivalent to the Austrian Matura).

The certificate must include subjects relevant to the chosen program (e.g., Mathematics, Physics for engineering programs).

If the qualification is not equivalent, students may need to complete a preparatory course (Vorstudienlehrgang – VWU) before full admission.

2. Language Proficiency

Most bachelor's programs at TU Wien are taught in German, so applicants must prove German proficiency at level B2 or C1 (CEFR).

Accepted certificates: ÖSD, Goethe-Zertifikat, DSH, TestDaF.

Students without the required German proficiency may need to complete a German language course before starting their degree.

3. Additional Course-Specific Requirements

Some programs may require entrance examinations or an aptitude assessment, especially in highly competitive fields.

Technical and scientific programs may ask for proven knowledge in Mathematics and Physics.

4. Application Process

Online application through TU Wien’s admission portal.

Submission of academic transcripts, translated and certified copies of school certificates.

Proof of German language proficiency.

Statement of purpose (if required for specific programs).

Payment of the application fee (if applicable).

5. Visa and Residence Permit

Non-EU/EEA students must apply for an Austrian student visa/residence permit after receiving admission.

Proof of financial means, health insurance, and accommodation is required.
