1. Academic Requirements

A recognized bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.

The degree must be equivalent to an Austrian bachelor’s degree in the chosen field of study.

Some programs may require specific prerequisite courses in mathematics, physics, computer science, or engineering.

2. Language Proficiency

Most master's programs at TU Wien are taught in German, requiring C1-level German proficiency (CEFR).

Accepted certificates: ÖSD, Goethe-Zertifikat, DSH, TestDaF.

A few master's programs are offered in English, requiring C1 English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent).

3. Additional Course-Specific Requirements

Some programs may have entrance exams, portfolio submissions (for architecture and design), or interviews.

Work experience or research experience may be beneficial for certain specialized programs.

4. Application Process

Online application via TU Wien’s admission portal.

Submission of bachelor’s degree certificates, academic transcripts, and certified translations (if not in German or English).

Proof of language proficiency (German or English, depending on the program).

A statement of purpose or motivation letter (if required).

Recommendation letters (for some competitive programs).

5. Visa and Residence Permit

Non-EU/EEA students must apply for an Austrian student visa/residence permit.

Proof of financial means, health insurance, and accommodation is required.
