Xiangtan, China

Xiangtan University (XTU), located in Xiangtan, Hunan, was founded in 1958 at the initiative of Mao Zedong, who also inscribed its name. Although operations were suspended in 1959, the university was revived in 1974 with support from national leaders like Deng Xiaoping.
