Yale University is a private Ivy League University which was founded in 1701 in Connecticut. It is also known as the birthplace of doctoral education in United States as it awarded the first three PhD. degrees in the country followed by University of Pennsylvania, Harvard and Princeton in 1870, 1872 and 1879 respectively.Yale University offers a number of courses through its various schools: Yale College, Graduate School of Arts and Science, School of Architecture, School of Arts, Divinity School, School of Drama, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Law School, School of Management, School of Medicine, School of Music, School of Nursing and School of Public Health.

The Department of Computer Science offers both B.S. and B.A. degree programs, as well as three combined majors in cooperation with other departments: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Computer Science and Mathematics, and Computer Science and Psychology. The African Studies major, students gain a cross-disciplinary exposure to the arts, history, cultures, politics, and development of Africa.
