1. Completed Graduate Application

Begin by submitting the online graduate application through YSU’s portal. This includes personal information, academic history, and program selection. A non-refundable application fee of $45 is required, though it may be waived for veterans and active-duty military personnel. 

2. Official Transcripts

Provide official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you've attended. For international students, a credential evaluation is required to verify the equivalency of your academic records. 

3. Bachelor’s Degree

You must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Some programs may have additional specific requirements, so it's advisable to check the specific program's criteria. 

4. English Language Proficiency

If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate proficiency through standardized tests like TOEFL or IELTS. Some programs may accept alternative assessments or conditional admission based on English language support programs.

5. Letters of Recommendation

Many programs require two or three letters of recommendation from academic or professional references who can speak to your qualifications and potential for graduate study. ysu.edu

6. Additional Program-Specific Materials

Certain programs may request supplementary materials such as:

A resume or curriculum vitae

A statement of purpose or personal statement

A portfolio (for creative disciplines)

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores (if applicable)
