Located in Birmingham, England's downtown, Aston University is a public institution. Founded in 1895 as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School, Aston became the first advanced technology college in the United Kingdom in 1956. On 22 April 1966, Queen Elizabeth II granted Aston University a royal charter.
