Application Process & Materials

Application Entities: Apply via CAU’s online portal, Common App, or Common Black College Application; application fee is $35, with waivers available (e.g., through counselor request until March 1)  .

Academic Records: Submit official high school transcripts; a preferred GPA minimum is 3.0, though holistic review allows for flexibility.

Standardized Tests: SAT/ACT are optional, but may enhance eligibility for some scholarships .

Recommendations: Although not required, two letters from teachers or counselors are encouraged .

Personal Statement: A 500-word essay on a topic of your choice is required.

Academic Preparation

CAU recommends completion of a college preparatory high school curriculum, including:

English (4 units)

Math (3 units)

Natural Sciences (3 units)

Foreign Language (2 units)

Social Studies (3 units)

Electives (2 units) .

Deadlines & Notification

Early Action (non-binding): Due Nov 1; notifications by January 1.

Regular Decision: Due April 15; admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis.

Academic Profile & Selectivity

Acceptance Rate: Approximately 56%  .

Middle 50% GPA: Ranges from 3.25–3.75, with about 20% achieving 3.75 or higher  .

ACT Scores (middle 50%): Range between 17 and 20.

SAT Scores (middle 50%): Typically between 860 and 1100 .

International Applicants

Required to submit:

Verified academic transcripts evaluated by WES or a NACES member organization

English proficiency proof (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo) or sufficient English coursework

Financial Affidavit showing ability to fund education

May 1 for Fall entry

October 1 for Spring entry
