Edinburgh Napier University History
Edinburgh Napier University is an Edinburgh, Scotland, public university. The university's predecessor, Napier Technical College, was founded in 1964 by Scottish mathematician John Napier. In 1992, it gained university status and was renamed the University of Napier.
Edinburgh Napier University Programs, Courses and Schools
Edinburgh Napier offers topics such as engineering, computing, nursing, midwifery, science, business, timber engineering, and transportation studies. It offers a variety of creative courses including film, graphic design, music, performance, publishing, and product design. The Business School runs programs with HTMi, the Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland, in conjunction with its many overseas partners including, most recently, the Master of Science in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. There are also offices at the university in Beijing and Hyderabad. Edinburgh Napier University works solely with the academic services firm Stafford Associates to promote and recruit students for the Middle East Global Online Degree Suite. Edinburgh Napier has partnerships with higher education institutions around the world to deliver courses and is Hong Kong's largest UK higher education provider.
Edinburgh Napier University Campuses
The university is based in Merchiston, Craiglockhart and Sighthill around its three main campuses.The Sighthill Campus opened in January 2011 to students at the Health & Social Care School and the School of Applied Sciences. The campus includes a five-story learning resource centre, 25 specialized teaching rooms including laboratories for clinical skills, three IT-enabled lecture theatres and seminar rooms, a clinical skills suite and integrated sports facilities. The Craiglockhart Campus shows photography, writing, film and memorabilia to give an insight into the minds of Craiglockhart's poets, patients and medical staff. The exhibition also offers a collection of War Poets based on the work of Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen and selected contemporary poets. The Merchiston Campus is home to the Schools of Art, Computer and Engineering & Built Environment
