Frequently Asked Questions

GISMA was founded in 1999 by the German state of Lower Saxony with corporate support. In 2021, it officially became a University of Applied Sciences, accredited to award its own bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Its Global MBA programme is AMBA-accredited, and several MSc programmes hold FIBAA accreditation.
GISMA operates two German campuses: Potsdam (the original) and Berlin (since 2017), offering modern infrastructure and close ties to Germany’s business hubs.
GISMA is wholly owned by Global University Systems (GUS), a global network with over 30 institutions, many of which share facilities such as the Think Campus in Potsdam with UE and BSBI.
The process includes selecting a programme, completing the online application form, submitting documents (transcripts, CV, passport, motivation letter, language proof), followed by an offer and a €3,000 deposit to secure enrolment. For international students, a personal interview or language test may also be required.
GISMA does not charge an application fee. It operates on two intakes annually (Winter and Fall). Applicants are advised to apply at least three months before the desired intake.
Yes—Indian applicants must complete the APS India process (academic document verification), pay a registration fee, and submit proof of certification as part of visa application support. GISMA’s consultants guide the process.
GISMA does not have its own medical clinic. Students must register with German public or statutory health insurance. Psychological counselling, mindfulness workshops, and wellness support are available through internal or partner services.
The Berlin and Potsdam campuses are situated in generally safe urban areas, and students receive orientation on local safety procedures. Emergency numbers (110 – police, 112 – medical/fire) and safe transport options are shared during induction.
Yes—counselling services, peer-support initiatives, and mindfulness groups are available to help address academic stress, adjustment issues, and personal wellbeing.
GISMA offers undergraduate (BSc, BEng) and postgraduate (MSc, Global MBA) degrees in business, digital transformation, data science/AI, technology, and international management. All are taught in English.
GISMA partners with institutions including Grenoble École de Management, Kingston University London, Arden University, and University of Law (UK) for joint or double-degree delivery, depending on the programme.
For undergraduate: IELTS 5.5 (CEFR B2); Master’s: IELTS 6.0 (B2); Global MBA: IELTS 6.5 (with components ≥6.0) or equivalent TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo.
GISMA administers a Future Leaders Scholarship fund (~€1 million) and offers specific awards including the Women in Tech scholarship (100% and 50% for female MSc applicants in tech disciplines). Other India/South Asia scholarship schemes are also available via ApplyBoard.
No—GISMA does not provide loans or direct financial aid. Students must secure external funding or scholarships independently.

Founded in Potsdam (lakeside), with a second campus in central Berlin. Estimated annual living costs range between €10,200–13,300, depending on lifestyle and city.
GISMA offers a dedicated Accommodation Advisory Service and access to partnered student housing (e.g. Edge Student Hub near Berlin). Support includes help with contracts, move-in, and guidance.
Both campuses are well-connected via Berlin and Potsdam’s efficient public transport networks, with proximity to tram, bus, and train lines. Orientation includes transport guidance.
