Geneva, Switzerland
For international students applying to postgraduate (master’s) programmes at the International University in Geneva (now known as the International Institute in Geneva / IIG), the application requirements are fairly structured and aimed at ensuring academic preparedness and English proficiency.
To be eligible for a master’s degree, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university (NARIC/ENIC standards). There is no strict minimum work experience requirement for most master programmes, although work experience is recommended for MBA applicants.
Because instruction is in English, all international applicants need to demonstrate English language proficiency. Acceptable evidence includes TOEFL (minimum 80 iBT), IELTS (minimum 6.0), Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), or equivalent tests. This requirement can sometimes be waived if you are a native English speaker or have studied in English for at least 2 3 years.
The standard application documents include: a completed application form with a motivation letter, official undergraduate transcript and diploma (certified and translated into English), a resume/CV, a letter of reference from a professor or employer, a copy of a valid passport, and a recent passport sized photo. There is also a non refundable application fee (around CHF150, Euro150 and USD140).
Some programmes require a 1 2 page case study response and may include an interview with an academic representative to discuss your motivation and fit for the chosen master’s field.
IIG’s postgraduate offerings include master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA), Digital Marketing & Communication, International Management, International Trade & Finance, International Relations and Diplomacy, and Business Analytics & AI.
