The most important thing at JMC is our students, and we're here to help you, with whatever you need. Our free counselling and academic assistance is available throughout your JMC journey. Services include exam preparation, career development, CVs and cover letters, presenting, researching, study skills, computer skills, academic writing, counselling, and time and stress management. JMC also provides free counselling and library research assistance. Welfare and guidance services ensure safety and respect is central to the culture of our community, and students are encouraged to discuss any personal problems with the Campus Counsellor free of charge. JMC has signed up with TalkCampus, providing free 24/7 instant online support for mental health, anonymous safe spaces, no waiting times, no stigma, and no judgement. Wellness Weeks are held three times a year to prioritise the mental and physical wellbeing of students and staff. Learning Support is committed to providing equitable, supportive and inclusive learning environments for neurodiverse students or students with a disability, mental health or medical condition. The Academic Skills Service offers free assessment support and techniques to help with time management, with one-on-one support available. International students receive foundation courses, pre-arrival orientation guides, on-campus orientation, academic support staff, on-campus counsellors, ongoing support from International Services, and off-campus support through English language colleges.

Life at JMC is about more than lectures and assessments - it's about belonging to a community of creative thinkers and makers. From day one, students work with other passionate students, build lifelong friendships, and take part in performances, showcases, and festivals that celebrate what they create. Across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane campuses, students find a vibrant, inclusive environment that fuels collaboration, curiosity, and confidence. At JMC, creative collaboration isn't just encouraged – it's how students work, just like in the industry. Audio students mix sound for film and TV projects, actors provide voiceovers for animation and game design projects, filmmakers direct music videos for emerging artists, and designers shape branding and visuals for entertainment management projects. Key events include Acting Industry Showcase, Design Graduate Gallery, Graduation Ceremony, Orientation Week, Martini Film Awards (in-house film festival), and Cassette Music Awards (performance and awards evening recognising emerging musicians). Students can also participate in life drawing sessions, audio study groups, game discussion groups, and Ableton Club.

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

JMC Academy does not operate on-campus housing facilities. However, the academy provides relocation support and guidance to help students find accommodation. Students can explore the Relocation Hub for information about accommodation, moving, and student life. International students receive help with accommodation through International Services. Students should budget for housing, food, and other utilities in addition to tuition costs.

Student Safety

At JMC Academy, safety and respect is central to the culture of our community. All members of the JMC community have a right to feel safe, supported and always welcome. It is the responsibility of all to provide a safe and inclusive campus that is free from harassment, bullying, discrimination and assault. In line with fostering a safer campus, all students are required to complete Consent Matters training during their time at JMC Academy. Consent Matters is a fully interactive course, used by all Australian Universities, that covers sexual consent, communication and relationships, and bystander intervention. Students are encouraged to discuss any personal problems with the Campus Counsellor free of charge. JMC provides 24/7 access to TalkCampus, a global peer support network for mental health.

JMC prepares students for the real world from the very start through internships, industry briefs, mentoring, and live projects, gaining professional experience before graduation. Career support includes exam preparation, career development, CVs and cover letters, presenting, researching, study skills, computer skills, academic writing, and time and stress management. Career Support and Advisory services provide one-on-one advisory support for students with CVs, cover letters, portfolios, interviews, networking, and job search strategies. Career development initiatives and tailored support services help students build skills valued by employers in Australia's creative industries. Students gain hands-on experience with top Australian music and entertainment companies through internships and JMC's premier partnerships. JMC also offers a Career Support and Advisory Lead function strengthening student employability through employer, industry and community partner relationships.
