Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT University) was established in 1969 in Lappeenranta, Finland, as a national university of technology focused on engineering. By 1996, it had established permanent operations in Lahti, creating a second campus. The university's name changed several times—from LTKK in 2002 to LTY in 2003—before becoming known as LUT University. It retained its Lappeenranta and Lahti campuses after other regional campuses merged into the University of Eastern Finland in 2010.
