The below information is required while
completing the university application :
International students must complete the official online admissions application through the UIC Barcelona admissions portal as the first step of the process. After application submission, the university will contact you with details about the required documentation you need to provide in order to proceed with admissions and sit the university’s entrance assessment.
Hold a secondary school completion certificate equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato (high?school diploma). Non?Spanish qualifications may need to be officially homologated/validated by the Spanish Ministry of Education before final enrolment if you are from a non?EU system.
Provide key documents such as a copy of your passport, academic transcripts/certificates (translated into Spanish if necessary), a passport?size photo, proof of payment of any application and processing fees, and signed acceptance of UIC’s terms and conditions.
Sit an online admission test, which includes general and programme?specific parts as well as a personal interview (often conducted virtually). Admission offers are based on the results of this process.
Depending on the language of instruction, you may need to demonstrate proficiency in Spanish or English for your programme. While UIC may accept various certificates or alternative proof (such as university?issued language assessments), having a recognised certification at the required level can strengthen your application.

These included pioneering work in healthcare and sustainability such as Spinertial — a device developed through physiotherapy and bioengineering research to support cervical rehabilitation; Biomelt, a biodegradable, plastic‑free cosmetic product; Microbiome to Cure Acne, which aims to reduce antibiotic use in acne treatment; and Nanobesity, a nasally administered nanomedicine designed to address obesity and insulin resistance. These projects illustrate the university’s ability to generate socially impactful and technologically advanced solutions, reinforcing its role in innovation ecosystems.
In October 2025, experts from UIC Barcelona made significant strides in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to stroke detection, developing methods to rapidly generate diagnostic reports from simple cranial CT scans. This research, reported during World Stroke Day, demonstrates how the university’s research community is leveraging AI to improve emergency medical care and patient outcomes — an example of innovation in health technology with real clinical potential.
In 2023–2024, UIC Barcelona received substantial competitive funding through the IdC (Knowledge Industry) call, securing six research and innovation projects worth €470,500. These included both Llavor (Seed – early research) and Producte (Product – prototype and development) projects spanning bioengineering, medicine, architecture, and humanities. Researchers such as Dr. Roman Pérez and colleagues were among those awarded, highlighting multidisciplinary innovation and the university’s commitment to translating research into practical applications.
