University of Central American nation, is a public university originated in Republic of Costa Rica, in Central America. It was established in the year 1843 by University of Santo Thomas. The University is the oldest, largest and most prestigious institution of higher learning in Costa Rica. It is also most important research university in the country, and Central America.

University of Costa Rica, offers undergraduate options (Diploma Programs and Certificates of Specialization in Special Programs) and Teaches more than a hundred degrees Endorsed by the degree Center for Academic Evaluation. The University also include various institutional programs. The University has 42 research institution and 47 schools and they have 2 faculties for arts and letters like Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Letters. The University has more than 37,600 undergraduate students and 4,042 postgraduate students.

University of Costa Rica, main campus is located on San Pedro, San Jose. The other regional campuses are located throughout the country to reach rural Costa Ricans. The Western Campus includes a local branch in Tacares, Grecia. The Altantic Campus includes a local branch in Paraiso, Cartago and another one in Guapiles, Limon. The Guanacaste Campus includes local branch in Santa Cruz. The Limon Campus located in the city of Port Limon. The Pacific Campus located in the city Puntarenas. The Golfito Campus located in the city of Golfito, Puntarenas.

University of Costa Rica, have research in Agricultural Science since 1955, the Agronomic Research Center ( CIA ) is a space where professionals from different areas of Agronomy investigate issues related to soil and plant fertility, agricultural biotechnology, biochemistry of organic processes in the soil, agricultural microbiology , post-harvest technology and the study of natural resources.
