To be eligible for the orientation year residence permit, applicants must: • Hold a valid passport or travel document. • Provide proof of obtaining a degree from a Belgian institution of higher education.  • Have health insurance covering risks in Belgium.  • Demonstrate adequate means of subsistence to support themselves during the orientation year.

During the 12-month orientation year, graduates have unrestricted access to the Belgian labor market. This means they can work as full-time employees, start their own business, or engage in other professional activities without the need for a separate work permit. The purpose of this period is to provide graduates with the opportunity to secure long-term employment or establish themselves as entrepreneurs in Belgium.
