Educational Qualification

General university entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent).

In exceptional cases, the university may waive this if extraordinary artistic talent is demonstrated during the aptitude test. 

Artistic Aptitude Test (Eignungsprüfung)

Mandatory for all artistic and artistic?pedagogical degree paths, including Bachelor and preparatory youth programmes.

The test may involve live auditions, music theory, ear training, or video pre-screening, depending on the programme. 

German Language Proficiency

German is the primary language of instruction. Non?native speakers must provide proof of German skills at minimum B?2 level, unless a programme explicitly specifies otherwise. 

Application Process & Deadlines

Applications submitted via HMTM’s official online application portal. A €50 admission fee applies (plus €10 per additional programme).

Deadline for most Bachelor programmes: March?5 annually; some specific programmes (e.g. cooperations with BTAE or dance) may have different dates.
