Frequently Asked Questions

Graduate students in Oxford have access to a variety of housing options offered by the university and its colleges. Furthermore, a large number of graduate students find housing in the private sector. Accommodations for graduate students cannot be guaranteed by the university. However, 53% of all full-time graduate students and 72% of full-time graduate "freshers" (first-year students) were living in college or university housing in 2018–19. When you receive your college offer, your college will often walk you through the application process for accommodations. Please be advised that you will usually receive a college offer considerably later than most applicants if you apply after the primary December or January deadline for your course. All undergraduate students are accommodated by colleges for at least one additional year of their course and during their initial year of study. Graduate students can also find accommodations at several colleges. College housing is available to all first-year undergraduate students, either on campus or at a nearby college annexe. Every college provides additional housing for at least one more year, and some do so for the remainder of your degree.
