Applicants must hold a university-entrance qualification (such as the German Abitur) or an equivalent secondary school certificate recognised for higher education admissions in Germany. 

If the degree programme is admission-restricted (numerus clausus), applicants must apply via the university portal (Unisono) and meet the deadlines (e.g., 15 July for many winter-semester starts) for restricted programmes. 

For international applicants whose previous education is outside Germany/EU, additional verification (via the STARTING department) may be required. 

Language proficiency:

For German-taught programmes: German language qualification may be required (e.g., TestDaF, DSH) though specific levels depend on programme. 

For programmes taught in English (or containing English-language content): Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) may be required per programme.
