1. Academic Eligibility

Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a related field, recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC).

Official Transcripts (translated into Portuguese by a sworn translator if not in English/Spanish).

Minimum GPA – Some programs may require a minimum grade (e.g., 7.0/10 in the Brazilian system).

2. Language Proficiency

Portuguese Proficiency (most programs are taught in Portuguese):

CELPE-Bras (Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners) – Intermediate (Intermediário) or higher (required for most programs).

Some research-focused programs may accept alternative proof (e.g., interview).

English Proficiency (if applying for an English-taught program, if available): TOEFL (iBT 80+) or IELTS (6.5+).

3. Research Proposal & Letters of Recommendation

Research Proposal (for thesis-based programs) – Must align with faculty expertise.

2-3 Letters of Recommendation (preferably from professors or employers).

4. Entrance Exam/Interview

Some programs may require:

Written Exam (subject-specific).

Interview (in-person or online).

5. Visa & Legal Documents

Student Visa (VITEM-IV) – Must be obtained before arrival in Brazil.

Valid Passport (6+ months validity).

Birth Certificate (translated and notarized).

Criminal Background Check (apostilled/legalized).
