Medicine is one of the most sought-after professions in the world. Also it is a merit-based programme so students have to face a lot of competition to get a seat in a reputed university. Here are some things that international students must keep in mind before they decide to study a medical degree abroad.

  1. First of all it is very important to ensure that your degree is recognised around the world. Medicine is one such profession that requires hands-on clinical training and you will not be allowed to practise medicine if your degree is not valid in other countries. The best way to do this is to make sure that your institution is listed in the directory of WHO.
  2. You can also check if your institution has a summer internship or not. There is no point of theoretical knowledge if you do not gain practical exposure.
  3. The tuition fee for a medical course is generally higher than the rest of the courses. You must decide the program and university keeping in mind your financial capabilities and budget.
  4. Make sure that the country that you decide should be economically and politically stable. Recently students who were studying medicine in Ukraine had to face a lot of problems due to the sudden outbreak of war. This can be avoided if you study the geopolitical scenario of the country beforehand.
