Likely exam dates for the most important competitive exams 2024 in India

The National Testing Agency has released the examination calendar for most important competitive exams that will take place in 2024. The CUET UG exam will take place from 15th May to 31 heMay 2024. CUET PG will be conducted in the month of March. The NEET UG exam will take place on 5th May, 2023. The UGC NET exam will take place between 10th to 21st June. The JEE mains session one exam will start on 24th January and will go on till first February, 2023. The session two exams for JEE mains will begin on 1st April, 2024 and will continue till 15 April 2024.

16 year old US boy gets scholarship worth US dollar 10 million from various universities

A 16-year-old US team named Dennis Maliq Barnes has been accepted into 185 different schools in the US. He has also received a US$10 million worth scholarship from these institutions. He has finally decided to study at Cornell University. He will be pursuing a program in computer science. Dennis has given all the credit to his academic counsellor for helping him apply to various universities. He has said that he did not know about his own potential until his academic counsellor motivated him to apply for various universities and grants. Delhi University starts admission for MA in Hindu Studies

Delhi University has started its admission process for MA in Hindu studies. The course will be offered by the newly set Centre for Hindu studies. A graduate in any discipline is eligible to apply for the course till 30th September, 2023. The course will have a unique curriculum and will explore Hinduism in respect with contemporary societal beliefs.

GATE 2024 online application registration to end on 29 September 2023

The registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering has officially started. Aspirants can register for the exam till 29 September, 2023. The exam will be conducted by Indian Institute of science, Bengaluru for 2024. Interested candidates can fill the application by September end. The GATE  exam is scheduled to be conducted in the month of February. The exam is conducted to give admission to students in the MTech programme in IITs. Candidates who have to register for the exam will have to pay Rs.500 as the registration fees. GATE is one of the most competitive exams in India and some of the brightest minds of the country take part in this exam.

The UK has decided to put its focus on Indian students after France recently announced its goal to attract 30,000 Indian students by 2030 for higher education. The top study abroad destinations of the world have recognised the influence of Indian students in the global education scenario. In the past few years, Indian students have contributed massively to the economy of various countries by immigrating for higher education. Indian students make for the second largest group of international students in the UK after China. The UK government is planning to collaborate with various institutes in India to introduce student exchange programmes. CBSE starts a new single girl child scholarship

The Central Board of Secondary Education has started a new single girl child scholarship. This scholarship will be specially for a single girl child who has completed her class 10th with at least 60% marks. To be eligible for the scholarship the candidate must be in 11th class or 12th class. The board will look after the tuition fee of the selected candidate. The tuition fee must not be more than Rs.1500 per month and there should only be an annual increase of 10%. The board will continue to offer the scholarship in class 12th if the candidate scores more than 50% in class 11th.

NMC to lower NEET 2023 cut offs for UG courses

It has been decided that the national medical Council will be lowering the NEET 2023 cut-offs for UG courses. The Indian Medical Association has been demanding a revision in the cut-off of NEET for a very long period of time. Now it has been finally decided that NMC will be lowering the cut-offs. Generally unreserved candidates have to accomplish at least 50 percentile to clear the NEET exam. PWD candidates have to score 45 percentile to clear the NEET exam. For reserved categories the decided cut-off has been 40% tile. No, NMC will be lowering the cut-off and will be lowering the cut off.

Delhi University to release its spot admission 2023 vacancy for UG courses on 18th September 2023

Delhi University will be releasing the list of vacancies in various programmes for UG courses for the spot around 18 September 2023. Only the candidates who have not got any seat previously in any of the cut-offs will be eligible to take part in this round. This means that candidates who already have a seat won't be able to participate.

The list of the seats is likely to be out by 5 PM on the website of Delhi University. Eligible candidates will have a window of three days to apply for any of the seats as per their preferences. The official announcement of seat allocation will be done on 21 September, 2023.

 

The UK to increase the cost of student visa from 4th October 2023

The UK is all set to increase the cost of study visa for international students from four October, 2023. The fees will rise to 490 GBP for all international students. The cost of a visit visa for the UK is all set to be 115 GBP. This decision has been taken by the government of the UK. The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made the announcement and said that the amount will be contributed towards the public health requirement of the country that has been growing ever since the pandemic.

There has been a 15% increase in the visit visa  and 20% increase in the study Visa since the pandey. This has put a lot of burden on the public health care system of the country. To make sure that the country has enough funds to look after immigrants, the hike has been made.

 

France to organise a study abroad tour in India in October

The government of India invites applications for the Commonwealth Masters scholarship

The government of India is inviting students of the country to apply for the Commonwealth Master scholarship 2024. This scholarship is available for students who want to study their masters in the UK. Students can apply for the scholarship at the OAS portal or the SAKSHAT portal.

Students who want to pursue their masters degree in the UK are eligible for the scholarship. It is compulsory for all students to have a score of at least 60% in their bachelors degree, and at least 55% to 60% in their masters or any other post graduate degree.

 

South Korea offers fully funded undergraduate scholarship for international students

This scholarship is especially meant for bright undergraduate students who want to study in South Korea but do not have the financial resources to study in South Korea. Major changes to be introduced in CBSE board exams 2024

CM of Madhya Pradesh, announces a grant of laptop for all the students scoring above 60 percent in class 12th board exams

Chief minister of Madhya Pradesh has announced that the state government will offer laptops to all the students who have scored above 60% in class 12th board exams. Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh government used to give a laptop to all the students scoring above 75% in class 12th. Other than this, the top three rankers, from all the areas will get a scooter as a reward.

The Madhya Pradesh government transferred Rs.196 crores in the bank accounts of numerous people who have scored above 75% in their board exams this year. But from the year 2024, the criterion has changed and all the students scoring above 60% will get a laptop from the state government. This is a great initiative towards education and digital India as it will help students in becoming familiar with the latest technology.

 

Board exams to be conducted twice a year

As per the new education policy, good exams will be conducted at least twice a year to give students enough time to prepare for the exams. Earlier, board exams were conducted only once a year due to which students had to face excessive pressure. But to put an end to this unnecessary pressure, the national curriculum framework for school education will be making sure that the board exam happens twice a year. The test makers and the evaluators will have to go through a proper training before checking and evaluation.

Moreover the Education Ministry will make two languages compulsory for class 11th and 12th students. The Ministry will make arrangements to offer on demand exams as well.

 

Delhi University announced a spot admission round

As per the official schedule announced by Delhi University, the university will display the number of vacant seats left on 18th September. Only the candidates who have not been able to get into any university will be eligible for the counselling round. Also after the announcement of the spot round, candidates will not be able to withdraw their seats.

To become a part of the spot round, students will have to register through 'Special Spot Admission’ that will be visible on their dashboard. Aspirants will have the free will to choose as many programs and colleges as they want
