Is inflation in Canada creating problems for students in finding part time jobs

Posted on: September 07, 2023

Recently the news of international students not being able to find jobs in Canada has been all over the place. The plight of these international students has been seen in various videos where students have not been able to find jobs because of which they have to return back home. Other than inflation, there are various factors that influence a student's ability to find a job in Canada. One of the biggest setbacks that Indian students face is lack of skills. Most of the students do not have the required skills to get a part-time job. Part-time jobs also require some experience or skills which most Indian students lack which is why they are not able to get jobs.

Also, you need to have good communication and soft skills to be able to find a part-time job. Make sure that you talk really well with people because working as a server, or a cashier will require you to talk to people. Other than this keep evolving yourself and learning new things. You can do a lot of free courses that are available online. These courses leave a huge impact on your resume. Although part time jobs are scarce in Canada right now because of the high rate of immigration, it is not impossible to find a job if you take the right steps.

Here are some tips for international students that can help them stay secure and avoid scams while living and travelling as an international student.

  1. Stay careful with housing scams. Housing scams are a real problem among students. A lot of times fake housing agencies take money from students and do not provide them with accommodation in return. You should only trust sources that are registered with the government and are well known.

The thing with scammers is that they're very clever and target international students who are vulnerable and do not have exact knowledge of things. If you receive any kind of phone calls or messages related to your account and make sure that you avoid these calls.
  3. Make sure that you are aware of the latest fraud tactics that scammers use so that you can protect yourself from the same. From time to time, new types of tactics are used by fraudsters to lure people. Sometimes lack of information makes a victim of fraud. Try to stay updated.
