Ajman University was established on 17 June 1988, marking it as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It also attained a pioneering role in the UAE by welcoming expatriate students of all genders from its inception . The institution later shortened its name from Ajman University of Science and Technology.
