Columbia University History
Columbia University's history started in the year 1754 as King’s College. It was founded by the Royal Charter under George 2nd of Great Britain. It was renamed Columbia College in 1784. The College shifted to Morningside Heights in the year 1896 and was again renamed Columbia University.
