Mid Sweden University was founded on 1 July 1993 as a result of the merger of the University College of Sundsvall/Härnösand and the University College of Östersund. It was granted full university status from 1 January 2005 and thus became Mid Sweden University.

Proof of English language proficiency is required; level and test type depend on the specific programme.
