After placing fourth, the two qualified the boat for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where they placed in the top ten. In the BW1x at the U23 World Rowing Championships, Alison took home bronze in 2022 and silver in 2023. In 2020, Alison competed for Ireland for the first time in the Junior European Championships, placing fifth in the JW4x. Alison, a native of Fermoy, began rowing as a junior with the Fermoy Rowing Club and went on to win multiple Irish titles. She is presently enrolled in MTU's Sports and Exercise Management program. Dr. Tara Coppinger is an Associate Editor at BMC Sports Science, Medicine, and Rehabilitation, a Registered Nutritionist (Public Health), and a Conferred Fellow of the Association for Nutrition. She has been on the board of Munster Technological University's (Ireland) Research Ethics Committee for the previous eleven years and is the Global Lead and Academic Constituency Member of the Nutrition Society's Membership Committee. In 2009, Tara finished her PhD, which examined the eating habits and exercise habits of British schoolchildren as they entered secondary school. Over 50 worldwide peer-reviewed articles have been published by Tara.She is currently at the forefront of Irish research on the relationship between physical activity and nutrition and severe mental illness.
