The Department of English has increased its fee for their PhD programme by Rs.22,000 from this year. Earlier the fee used to be Rs.1932 per session but from this session onwards, the fees will be Rs.24,000. Students were given a timer for one day to submit the tuition fees. In lieu of the events, Delhi University students from the English department have started protesting against the sudden fee hike.
The professors at the Department of English have also voiced their concerns regarding the recent and sudden hike of the tuition fees. Mostly the other departments of Delhi University charge Rs.3000 to 5000 from students for a PhD programme per session. The most concerning thing is that this fee hike was not mentioned in the 2023 notice of the Department of English. It has been recently introduced which is why most students are not accepting it
Maastricht University, Netherlands is offering a fully funded scholarship for students for the academic year 2024-2025 . This fully funded scholarship will cover all the expenses of the student. The deadline to apply for the same is 1st February, 2024. It is compulsory for the candidate to be less than 35 years. Also the candidate must not have previously studied in any institute of Netherlands to be eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship will be given totally on the basis of merit which is why academic excellence is an important requisite. The university will also cover the medical expenses of the student for 13 or 25 months. Students from all kinds of academic backgrounds are welcomed for the scholarship.
The University of Sheffield has announced that it will be offering 125 postgraduate scholarships to students under its postgraduate taught merit scholarship program. Selected students will be given £5000 to students that can be used to pay the tuition fees. The application for the scholarship will start by late December. The deadline is expected to be the second week of May. The university will declare the result of the scholarship in June. To be eligible for the scholarship, the candidate must be accepted by the University of Sheffield for the autumn intake of 2024. Distance learning programs are not eligible for the scholarship. Only the students who are pursuing a masters degree are eligible for the scholarship.
The Central government of India has announced a special scholarship for students from the north-east part of India. The government will be providing 10,000 scholarships to students under which Rs.8000 will be given every month for at least 10 months. Interested students can visit the national scholarship portal to apply for the scholarship. The scholarships have been specially announced for students from the economically weaker section of the north-eastern part of the country. The money will be provided to support their education and physical well-being. Only the students who have cleared their class 12th exams from and affiliated schools in the Northeast are eligible for the scholarship. All the students who are currently pursuing their undergraduate degree from a UGC affiliated college can apply for this scholarship. Students pursuing their degree from open or distance mode cannot apply for the scholarship.
The University of Lincoln is inviting students to apply for the PG scholarship that is open to all international students. Selected students will get a stipend of £4000 during their first year of scholarship. To attain the scholarship in the second year, it will be compulsory for the student to score the minimum marks as described by the university. students who are applying for the January to February intake in 2024 at the university or eligible for the scholarship. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is 1 December, 2023.
Students with both conditional or unconditional offer letters from the university can apply for the scholarship. Students who have applied for a postgraduate research program are not eligible for this scholarship

Students from JGU will be able to spend a particular semester in New York at Pace University to pursue their degree.

The current waiting time for a US visa is somewhere between 560 to 590 days in most cities of India.
