The United States of America is ready to launch its pilot domestic visa renewal programme. This will benefit domestic visa holders in specific H1B categories, especially in the technical skilled area field. H1B visa is used by top firms and companies in the US to hire skilled labour. The initial program is just limited to 20,000 seats. This mission will broadly focus on skilled Indian individuals who want to work in the US. Majority of the seats are to be given to Indian professionals. This will save a lot of time and the skilled workers won't have to go back to their respective countries to get a work visa.
The US department plans to increase the number of seats and the categories eligible for this domestic visa renewal program in 2024. The government first wants to check the efficacy of this program after which further steps will be taken.
Delhi University may start offering up to 20% of its current courses through its portal Swayam. The proposal has been made by the academic council of Delhi University and it is still under review. The proposal also states the conduction of classes in online mode for particular semesters as it will streamline the process of giving classes to students even when there is shortage of staff.
Many people are also against the idea of the proposal as they fear that the number of jobs in the university will be reduced and it will lead to unemployment. Many people also believe that it will not work for students as online classes are not being taken very seriously by students. This proposal is an alignment with the New Education Policy that aims towards 50% Gross Enrolment Ratio by 2035.
CBSE will be releasing the date sheet for class 10th and 12th board exams very soon. Students will be able to download the date sheet from the official website of CBSE. The date sheet will be released any time soon and students are desperately waiting for the same. As per sources, the exams for class 10th and 12th will be organised between 15 February, 2024 to 10th April, 2024. The exact schedule is yet to be announced by CBSE. The practical exams for both these classes will be organised between 1, January 2024 to 14th February, 2024.

Indian students were offered the second highest dependent visas in 2023. approximately 43,445 dependent visas were issued to Indian students and their dependents. This is a 1900% increase as compared to 2019 when just over 2000 dependent visas were issued to Indian nationals. The highest in the tally are Nigerian students. Looking at the high number of dependents in the country, the UK has decided to modify its immigration policy and will not be allowing any more dependents from 2024.
There has been an increase of 5% in the number of dependent visas issued to Indian students in 2023 as compared to the previous year. As per data 5804 more dependent visas have been issued to Indian nationals in 2023. Indian students had an approval rate of 97% and around 5000 visa applications were rejected by the UK from India. The highest visa acceptance rate was for Chinese students that stood at 99%.
Delhi University may soon introduce double/joint degree programmes for UG and PG students. In the first phase, the university plans to let students pursue their degree through a regular, distant mode. Also, the university will foster more global collaborations to let students spend at least a semester abroad. The proposal will be extended in the Academic Council meeting that is to be held on 30th November, 2023. Delhi University formed a committee in December 2022 to understand the relevance of a dual degree programme. Under this programme, students will be encouraged to spend a semester abroad and earn credits to increase the credibility of their degree. Delhi University will promote collaborations with the top 500 universities from around the world.

The Biden government has recently successfully completed a pilot project for paperless visa services in Dublin. The US Embassy has announced new changes in the F, M and J student visas that will be implemented from 27th November, 2023. students who choose to study in the US, apply under F, M, and J student visas. The US embassy announced via X (formerly known as twitter ) that students will now have to register their own passport details while scheduling a Visa interview for themselves. This is a step that has been taken to avoid any fraud or abuse towards the system. any applicant who has registered for a Visa interview without using their own passport details will not be accepted by their Visa Application Centres.
