University Grants Commission has extended the last date to apply for open and distance learning programmes. For the July and August session, students can apply till 5th November 2023. UGC has extended this date keeping in mind their demand of certain students. There were certain areas in the country where students were not able to register due to natural calamities and other unforeseen contingencies. The University of Lincoln has officially started accepting applications for the MSc analytical sciences program for the year 2024. This program is specifically meant for students who want to build a career in the field of research, analytical science, pharmaceuticals, and similar fields. The deadline for the application is January, 2024. Candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible. students must meet the academic eligibility required to apply for the university. The aspirants must have a minimum 50% marks in their bachelors or 5.5 CGPA. Also, it is compulsory for international students or non-native English speakers to have minimum six bands in IELTS exam.
The University of Sheffield is offering 125 PG merit scholarships to international students. Candidates who are interested in the same can apply for the scholarship directly through the official website of the university. Each scholarship that will be given to students will be worth £5000. All the international students we will enroll in the autumn intake of 2024 will be eligible for the scholarship. Students pursuing masters degree that is played between the University of Sheffield and another institute are not eligible for the scholarship. Also students will be pursuing the course from a distance. Education won't be eligible for the scholarship program. International students who are sponsored by a second party cannot register for the scholarship.
Delhi University will be releasing the results of spot round two for BTech programme on 9th October, 2023. Candidates who had registered for the BTech programme under the spot around two will be able to check the merit list by 5 PM. Candidates must complete the documentation process by 12th October, 2023 and complete the payment by 13th October, 2020.

The chief minister of Telangana has started an initiative called a CM overseeing scholarship scheme that sends students to study abroad for Postgraduate and PhD programmes. Candidates are only selected from minority groups. Muslim, Christian, Sikh and Jain communities are given more preference while selecting students for scholarship.
Candidates have been selected on the basis of their merit. Specific cut offs are selected for students from different categories. For 2022, 250 students have been selected out of which 143 are male and 107 are female. Students can pursue their courses in countries like the US, the UK, Australia and Canada.
The reliance foundation scholarship has officially started registration for 2023 undergraduate courses. The programme aims to support more than 5000 students through the merit come need-based criteria of selection. The ultimate goal of the programme is to make sure that students complete the basic education which makes them eligible to get jobs. It is compulsory to be a resident of India to be eligible for the scholarship. The candidate must have scored at least 60% marks in their exams. Also annual income of the family of the student must be less than 15 lakhs. Preference will be given to students who have a family income less than 2.5 lakhs per annum. Students who are in the second year of graduation are not eligible for the scholarship. Also students want to pursue their graduation through distance education are also not eligible.
IRCC has recently announced that it will be accepting 15,000 applications for parents and grandparents visas this year. IRCC will be sending invitations to apply for the same from 10th October to 23rd October. The invited applicants who are potential sponsors can submit the documents based on which Canada will accept around 15,000 applications. The invited applicants will be chosen from the pool of 2020 where various candidates applied for a dependent visa but did not receive any response. It is compulsory for the person to become the sponsor of whoever they want to call to Canada. Other than this, it is also compulsory that the parents or the grandparents must apply for permanent residence in the country.
Recently, the CAG of India has presented a report which provides a high probability of frauds Post Matric Scholarship offered by Odisha. The PMS scholarship is offered by two different departments of the government of Odisha. It is given to students studying in school to provide them financial support. As per the report, there has been a crowd of Rs.15.3 crores. More than 30 institutes that received recognisation from the scholarship fund did not have the eligibility to be recognised as institutions. But more than 5000 students have been granted the scholarship amount irregularly. Upon the physical verification of these institutions, it was found out that many of these institutions were not even in existence.
Delhi University has decided to end its spot round three for BTech programme on 7 October 2023. Interested candidates can apply for the same till the deadline. The announcement of results will be made on 9th October, 2023. Candidates will have a time period of two days to accept the seats. The National Medical Council has recently removed the minimum percentile criteria to qualify the NEET exam. Due to this alteration, many students who have scored as low as five marks have been able to get into government medical colleges for PG programmes. All of this is attributed to certain quotas and reservations. From other parts of the country's many such instances have come forward where students have scored 15 and 20 marks and still have been able to get into MD programmes. The US immigration department has recently released the data as per which over 90,000 student visas have been issued to Indian students in the past three months. This is data for the months of June, July and August. It also signifies that 1 out of 4 students who went to the US for higher education in 2023 has been Indian. Australia will no longer allow international students to pursue two courses simultaneously for the initial six months of their study. This change is specifically meant to crack down students who come to Australia for work on a student visa. Australia wants to maintain its standard of education, which is why it's ensuring that students who come to the country through education visas prioritise their education and not illegally earn money. This change will not impact students who have already enrolled into programmes. Under this policy, the students will be able to only in role in a dual degree programme which is offered by one College only. Other than this, if a student has to enrol into programmes, and the reasons are unavoidable, then the student might be given permission. For other cases, students will have to wait for six months to enrol in a second degree.
Humboldt diversity scholarship is officially accepting applications from international students. This scholarship is specifically meant for students from particular ethnic and racial backgrounds. Due to the rising tensions between India and Canada, India recently asked Canadian diplomats to leave the country. The deadline to register for the law programs offered by the faculty of Law at Delhi University has been extended. Delhi University offers BA LLB and BBA LLB program to interested students. Recently, the government of the UK decided to hike the visa fee for students and immigrants. The hike will be applicable from fourth October, 2023. A tourist visa under six months will be £115 costlier than before. A student Visa will be £127 costlier than before. The hike in the visa application fee is applicable to all categories of visa. The government of the UK has said that due to the excess pressure on the country because of immigration, the country is in need of extra funds to look after the health care needs of the immigrants. Through the extra money, the government will make sure that the immigrants are looked after and all the healthcare facilities are provided to them. The visa charges for children and dependents will rise to £490 per year.
