The visa approval rate for the USA falls to 65 percent

The number of international students going to the US for higher education increased by 15% in 2022 from the previous year. Canada witnessed even a higher increase in the rate of visa applications. All of the top study abroad destinations of the world were highly impacted during the coronavirus pandemic. But now that the pandemic is over, these countries are slowly  recovering from the laws that they had to incur during the pandemic. In 2021, the visa approval rate for the USA hit an all-time high with 80% approvals.

 But eventually the approval rate has come down to 65%. Around 43% of Indian students who applied for an American student visa in 2022 were able to get visa approvals. In 2022 the number of student visas issued to Chinese students dropped by 35%

 

Delhi University will be launching a one year post graduate degree

Delhi University is now gearing up to follow the New Education Policy under which undergraduate courses will take four years to be completed. Under the new guidelines by UGC, the post graduate program will now become a year long. Delhi University will be soon releasing postgraduate programmes that will last for a year. Students graduating from university with a three year undergraduate course will be eligible for a two year undergraduate course only. On the other hand, the ones that devote four years to their UG programme will be allowed to pursue a year long PG program.

Kerala launches Unnati scholarship for students from backward communities to study abroad

To encourage more students from Kerala to study abroad, the state government of Kerala has decided to announce a new scholarship called Unnati for students from backward communities. The scholarship will help students from SC and ST communities from low income households to study in foreign countries. The scholarship is exclusively available for students who want to pursue their post graduate degree from an international University. 

Before 2021, only 62 students from the backward communities of Kerala were able to study abroad. But after the conscious and relentless efforts of the government, more than 400 students have been able to study abroad every year. The tuition fee and the living expenses of the student will be fully sponsored by the state government.
