Most universities in Britain are already quite lucrative because of the international student enrolment. Another way that these universities are making money is by selling the leftover seats to interested students who want to pay more and get admission even if they do not have the merit.
Most of these universities are a part of the Russell Group, which is a group of the top most universities in Britain. 15 out of the total universities that are a part of the Russell group have been alleged for giving admission to students through their back door policies. Students are initially given admission in the foundation program that allows a smooth transition to a full-time degree.

The Republic of Turkiye has announced several scholarships for Indian students. The scholarships or for students who will be pursuing bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from the country. The US is planning to open more consulates in Ahmedabad and Bangalore to decrease the waiting time even more.

CBSE board exams for class 10th and 12th are going to start from February mid. CBSE is expected to release the admit cards for class 10th and 12th in the coming week. The admit cards will be released on the official website of CBSE. It is expected that both private candidates and regular candidates will be able to get their admit card at once. The admit card consists of important details of the student, including their name, examination roll number, school and centre for the examination.
Generally, most CBSE schools are responsible for giving admit cards to students that are signed by the responsible authority. The board exams for both class 10th and 12th will be starting on 15th February, 2024. This year CBSE won't be giving any overall distinction or score for subjects to avoid unhealthy competition.

Canada has banned the universities of its province, British Columbia from enrolling any international student in the coming two years. British Columbia announced this news recently as a temporary halt that all the universities in the province will have to follow. A lot of top universities like the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia and the Simon Fraser University are a part of the British Columbia province. British Columbia will also be revising a lot of rules meant for students and immigrants. The minimum language requirements at most of the private institutions will be raised. A few days back, the government of France announced that it will be introducing a new deposit payment bill. A selected amount of money had to be paid by international students who want to study in the country. This money was like an assurance fee that would be held by the government in case a particular student commits something illegal in the country. Upon the successful completion of a student’s study tenure in the country, the amount would be refunded. This new bill was not met with a lot of positive feedback. Upon a close review of the Constitutional Council, France has decided to take back this deposit payment bill for now. The council has also taken the proposal back which required non-EU students to annually submit a proof of being indulged in serious studies. This has been officially confirmed by various media portals in France.
Ontario has announced a set of new rules for international students who will be studying in the province. Ontario is the most populous province of Canada and is home to many international students. approximately 50% of the total international students in Canada are staying in Ontario. Ontario is now set to compel all the universities and education institutes in the province to provide housing for international students. This will be made compulsory in the coming months and all these institutions will have to arrange for accommodation for international students.
This has been done after the Immigration Minister of Canada, Marc Miller announced that Canada will be going through a two year student cap because of high accommodation rents and low options. The province government will also carry out frequent valuations to make sure that each and every institution is giving admission to serious candidates. Institutes will be allowed to enrol only a particular number of international students and not above it.
As per the recent report, more than 46,000 international students are currently studying in India from more than 170 different countries. 14 universities from Ireland will be organising a virtual education fair in India on 8th February, 2023. The fair that is called study in Ireland will be organised specifically for Indian students and will explore different prospects regarding studying in Ireland. The process will involve dissemination of the whole process of studying in Ireland, including tuition fees, scholarships, programmes, and after study job opportunities.

As per UGC, the list of the participating universities in CUET 2024 will be updated soon by NTA. This year more universities have decided to take part in the Common University Entrance Test as compared to the previous year. This test has been introduced by the government to centralise the process of giving exams and taking admission in different universities.
UGC has released a notification on 25th January, 2024 for universities, who wanted to take part in the CUET 2024. For the same universities have to register with NTA. NTA has been given the responsibility to conduct the CUET throughout the country and for also taking care of the universities who are a part of the ecosystem. Right now the prospectus has been released only for PG courses. NTA will be closing the registration process for PG courses by 31st January, 2024. After the conclusion of the registration process, NTA will release the latest list of participating institutes.

The National Scholarship Portal has officially started the central sector scheme for scholarship for university and college students. The correction window will remain open till 15th February, 2024. Only students who have secured more than 80 percentile in their class 12th examination or equal marks are eligible for the scholarship.
