Cooper Union

Cooper Union is also referred to as Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The college is a private college that is situated at the Cooper Square, Manhattan, New York and hence the name Cooper Union.

Cooper Union History

Cooper Union was established in the year 1859 and the founder of the college was Peter Cooper who was a renowned industrialist in America. The main motive behind this college was to give the best education to the children around. Cooper Union initially started with educating adults in the night and began with few courses. It also started educating women with some courses. The college was one of the oldest institutions and also offered free courses at one of time.

Cooper Union Campus is based at Cooper Square, Manhattan, New York. The campus is one of the oldest and also consists of various older buildings. The whole campus has its own peculiarities and many of its buildings are also registered in the National Historic Landkmarks. One of the buildings of the campus that is the Great hall has its own singnificance as Abraham Lincoln addressed in that hall. Since then the Great Hall has been part of many historic events. The college in the coming years Expanded its buildings as it added more courses and programs.

Housing/Accommodation Services

On-Campus: The Cooper Union has residential halls for different sections like for junior and senior. For the first year residents there is 29 3rd Avenue Student Residence Hall. This residential hall has the capacity to accomodate 170 students. 

The various facilities of the accommodations are: laundry rooms, reading room, lounges, internet connectivity and many others.

Off-Campus: The Cooper Union helps their students in finding the best accommodations near the campus. Cooper Union Medical Services are provided through the Student Medical Care Center. The center provides both mental and physical support to the students. Visa and Immigration

International students applying to Cooper Union are eligible for both F1 and J1 Visa depending on the course they have applied. They can apply for Visa once their admission is confirmed by the university. Once their admission is accepted by the university they can then pay the SEVIS Fee. After receiving receipt of the fee they can apply for Visa appointment at their home country.
