Hiram College History

Hiram College’s history started in the year 1850 as the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute by Amos Sutton Hayden and other members of the Christ Church. It was founded as a coeducational and non-sectarian institution.

1. Hiram College Global Scholarship

Hiram College is nationally respected. Its ability to offer a distinctive learning environment, focusing on close student-faculty interactions, international study opportunities and experiential learning provide the landscape for distraction-free learning. Although Hiram College does not offer need-based support to international students, there is a generous program of merit-based global scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines

To be considered, you must have your completed application for admission into the Admission Office no later than February 1.

There is no separate scholarship application.

The files of all students accepted to the College will receive scholarship consideration.

Both the Admission and Scholarship Committees consider each student’s application file in its entirety.

This holistic review combines academic preparation and performance, standardized test scores, teacher recommendations, personal essay, and interview, with the strongest considerations placed on academic performance.

Non-native English speakers are asked to submit a qualifying score in the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE-A exam.

Scholarship recipients are announced by February 15.
