Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta History

The Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is an establishment of higher education underneath Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah. UMS stands for Decree of the Minister Education and Culture which changed its name from IKIP to Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The university was established in the year 1958 was inaugurated by Mayor of Surakarta Municipality, Werdhisastro HM Salih.

The Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta offers 35 Undergraduate Programs. Postgraduate Programs consists of fourteen Study Programs, twelve Masters Programs, and 2 Doctoral Programs. The Master Program consists of monotheism Thinking Program, Shariah law Program, monotheism Education Program, Management Program, Education Management / Administration Program, Law Program, technology Program, Language Studies Program, Psychology Program, Engineering Program, Pharmaceutical Science Program, and Master of accounting. As a university to the international level, UMS presents a world program consisting of international category and double degree programs, it also offers vocational programs. Muhammadiyah Surakarta has 12 faculties.
