Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta History
The Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is an establishment of higher education underneath Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah. UMS stands for Decree of the Minister Education and Culture which changed its name from IKIP to Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The university was established in the year 1958 was inaugurated by Mayor of Surakarta Municipality, Werdhisastro HM Salih.

As a university to the international level, UMS presents a world program consisting of international category and double degree programs, it also offers vocational programs. Muhammadiyah Surakarta has 12 faculties.
