Niigata University History
Niigata University is a national university-based in Niigata, Japan. It was established in the year 1949 has its major origins in Niigata Medical College which was established in the year 1922 and Niigata Higher School was established in the year 1919. It is one of the largest universities in Japan and national universities on the Sea of Japan.

Niigata University, offers undergraduate programs, graduate programs, and Ph.D. programs. The University also teaches the program for Exchange Students and also summer programs are been teach. The University has different faculties in a different department for 12 undergraduate schools 7 graduate schools and 13 centers and faculties for students. The University has more than 1,098 academic staff, 2,293 administrative staff including 10,414 undergraduate students 2,315 postgraduate students.

Niigata University, the faculties, graduate schools (except Medicine and Dentistry) are concentrated in Ikarashi Campus. The medical colleges (Medicine and Dentistry) area unit set in Asahimachi campus within the downtown. Attached schools [elementary school and a junior college for children with special needs) located in Nishi Ohata district next to Asahimachi campus.

Niigata University won 7th place among enterprises with more than 1000 employees in the Forbes Japan Women Award in the year 2018. Prof. Nakagawa received Women In Transplantation Unsung Hero Award The Transplantation Society.

Niigata University has signed an inter-university agreement with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc). IIS is a public institution established in 1909, situated in Bengaluru, India. IISc is known as India’s leading institute for research and higher education in science and engineering achieving the first rank in the list of top Universities in India over the past three years, released by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Niigata University ranked 22 in National Rank and 491 in World Rank in the year 2016.
