Tribhuvan University History

Tribhuvan University is one of the oldest universities based in Kathmandu, Nepal named after King Tribhuvan. It was established in the year 1959 and relocated to its main campus at Kirtipur, 5 kilometers southwest of Kathmandu in the year 1967. Currently, there are 64,437 students studying at the university.

Tribhuvan University Programs, Courses, and Schools

Tribhuvan University has 38 associated central departments in the fields of Science, Management, Mathematics, Media, Buddhist Studies, Food Technology, Journalism and Mass Communication, Rural Development, Computer Science and Information Technology, and Population Studies to name a few.

Tribhuvan University offers 1079 undergraduate and 1000 postgraduate individual courses. The University comprises of four major faculties. They are, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Faculty of Management.

Tribhuvan University Campuses

Tribhuvan University has its main building at Kirtipur which houses all the faculties and research centers. The university campus is located 5 kilometers south of capital city Kathmandu. The city is a gateway to the Himalayas and offers various adventure, trekking, and mountaineering opportunities to students.

Tribhuvan University campus offers various recreational and leisure facilities to students. Students can also benefit from extensive sports facilities offered at the university campus.

Tribhuvan University is alma mater of most of the members of Royal Family of Nepal. Many of the university’s graduates have gone on to attain positions of prominence in the Nepalese government.
