University of Haifa History

The University of Haifa is an Israeli university located in the city of Haifa on Mount Carmel. The university was established in 1963 under the academic guidance of Hebrew University of Jerusalem to impart quality education to people in the area. The university currently enrolls over 18,000 students and employs 1300+ staff.

University of Haifa Programs, Courses, and Schools

The University of Haifa offers a wide range of programs at undergraduate and graduate levels in subjects like Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Marine Sciences, Business Management, Economics, Natural Sciences, and Health Sciences.

The University of Haifa comprises of Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences which focuses upon Marine Biology, Marine Geo-sciences, Maritime Civilizations, and study of Mediterranean Sea. The school has its own diving facility along with Caesarea Center which acts as home to all the research activities of the school.

The University of Haifa has its campus located in the city of Haifa in Israel. The campus is situated on the top of Mount Carmel and houses classrooms, laboratories, cafeteria, halls, and library with over 110,000 books in a single multi-purpose building.

University of Haifa campus has recently constructed additional buildings for faculties and administrative buildings. The university campus offers dedicated study spaces and computer access in addition to counseling services to its students.

University of Haifa Achievements

The University of Haifa has its own museum called the Hecht Museum in addition to a huge IBM Research Centre, making it one of the few universities in the country to host such facilities on-campus. 

The University of Haifa is ranked amongst top 700 universities in the world with very high research output by QS World University Rankings. The Times Higher Education (THE) ranks the university amongst the top 150 and top 300 universities in the world in Young University Rankings 2019 and University Impact Rankings respectively.

The University of Haifa has a high acceptance rate and is not a very selective institution. The university offers an affordable tuition fee with many of it is master’s programs taught in English for international students.

The University of Haifa also offers a range of options to study abroad at universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Spain, and many other European countries.
