University of Wroclaw History

Wroclaw University is a Wroclaw, Poland - based public research university. Wroclaw University was founded in 1945 to replace the previous Breslau German University. Wroclaw University (UWr) has over three centuries of rich history. The university has produced nine Nobel Prize winners since the beginning of the 20th century. Today, it is the region's largest university with more than 26,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including 1,400 doctoral students. Every year, 8,000 University students graduate.

University of Wroclaw Programs, Courses and Schools

There are 10 faculties providing 44 study areas, where the language medium is predominantly in Polish, with only a few in English. Wroclaw University offers programs at the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level. All certificates issued by UWr are globally recognized. The UWr is a prestigious centre of research. As a result of the work of highly qualified scientists engaged in more than 280 research projects, several thousand scientific publications appear annually. The University is a member of nine scientific networks and 13 consortia of scientific industry. The core group of about 400 professors, including international university lecturers, plays a key role in ensuring the highest level of education.

Wroclaw University is known for its relatively high teaching quality, placing 44th in the rankings of QS University: EECA 2016. The university was awarded the Excellent International Student Satisfaction Award 2015.

Notable alumni include the noble prize winners such as Albert Ludwig Sigesmund Neisser( German physician), Friedrich Bergius(German chemist), Max Born(German-Jewish physicist and mathematician), Eduard Buchner(German chemist and zymologist), Hans Georg Dehme(a German and American physicist).
