Millersville University History

Millersville University’s history started in 1855 as the first Normal School. The University is among the fourteen schools that are an integral part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. It changed its name to Millersville State Normal School in 1859 and later became a state teacher’s college in 1927. In 1983, it officially became Millersville University.
