Queens University of Charlotte is a private institution located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Queens University of Charlotte History

The Charlotte Female Institute, founded in 1857, was originally located at College and 9th streets in what is now Uptown Charlotte. It was known as the Seminary for Girls from 1891 to 1896. The Concord and Mecklenburg Presbyteries established the Presbyterian Female College in 1896. This new college absorbed the seminary. The term "responsibility" refers to the act of determining whether or not a person is responsible for his or her own actions. The name Queens College was chosen for three reasons: to disarm prejudice in deference to other Presbyterian colleges that claimed an equal right to the denominational name; to commemorate Queen's Museum, a classical school founded in Charlotte in 1771; and to honour Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg. Following World War II, Queens admitted its first male students. In 1948, a coeducational Evening College was established to provide adult education. It was the precursor to the New College, which opened in 1979 as an undergraduate evening program for working adults. New College was renamed Pauline Lewis Hayworth College in 1995.

Queens University of Charlotte has 34 undergraduate majors and 66 concentrations, as well as 10 graduate programs. University has approximately 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students through the College of Arts and Sciences, the McColl School of Business, the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education, the James L. Knight School of Communication, and the Andrew Blair College of Health, that also includes the Presbyterian School of Nursing.

Queens University of Charlotte's USP/Achievements are that, when compared to other southeast private institutions, significantly more Queens Students experienced high-impact, experiential learning (learning communities, study abroad, internships, and culminating senior experiences). Students at Queens also reported significantly more positive interactions with other students and faculty. In addition to this, Queens University of Charlotte's faculty includes two Pulitzer Prize finalists, two MacArthur Genius Award Fellows, a Fulbright Scholar, and North Carolina's Poet Laureate.

Queens University of Charlotte library’s name is Everett Library. Its mission is to inspire lifelong learning by serving as an academic center and knowledge gateway for the Queens University of Charlotte community. In support of the university's mission, the library fosters student professional success by providing them with appropriate knowledge-based tools, lead with robust digital and print resources, research support, access to innovative forms of academic discourse, and attempting to teach digital language skills. Everett Library functions as a dynamic physical and virtual information gateway for materials, services, and online access to information sources. The library is equipped with learning spaces designed to meet the needs of both individual and collaborative learning for all members of the Queens community. Medical services

Students' health and wellness center at Queens University of Charlotte provides medical services. The Health and Wellness Center provides high-quality, confidential health care. The center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Atrium Health has taken over management of the university's student health clinics and associated health services in August 2022. The agreement, announced in June, is part of a multi-year partnership between Queens University of Charlotte and Atrium Health that includes healthcare, counseling, and sports medicine services management and staffing.

Visas & immigration support

The majority of international students studying full-time at Queens do so on an F-1 student visa. After you have been admitted to Queens, submitted the above documents to the Admissions Office, and paid your $1,000 tuition deposit, the Myrta Pulliam Center for International Education will mail you the form (Form I-20) and instructions for applying for the F-1 visa. ISEP students study on a J-1 student visa. ISEP provides the necessary paperwork (Form DS-2019) to apply for this visa.

Sports and Fitness

Levine Center for Wellness and Recreation provides sports and fitness services to Queens University of Charlotte. Queens now offers group fitness classes to the community! Each week, group fitness classes such as yoga, zumba, kickboxing, deep stretching, and others are held. Each week, a complete class schedule is posted on the aerobics studio door. The center offers a variety of services, including: 5,000-square-foot fitness centre, 33-meter NCAA level competition swimming pool 1/8 mile indoor walking/jogging track, 3 full-size basketball courts with pull-out bleacher seating for 2,200 and Yoga and dance studio.

Students’ counseling center provides health and well-being services at the Queens University of Charlotte. The Center offers individualindividual, evidence-based, solution-focused short-term counselling and services to on-campus undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in degree-granting programmes. Its counselors are sensitive to issues such as ethnicity, spirituality, culture, sexual orientation, gender, disability, learning differences, and body image. Counseling sessions are confidential and are not recorded on your academic record.
