University of Limerick History

University of Limerick's history started in the year 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education. It gets its current power and University status in 1989 under the order of the University of Limerick Act 1989. Edward M. Walsh was the founding member of the University. It was the first university established after Irish independence.
