Ben Gurion University of The Negev History

The University of The Negev was established in 1969.  The University was later renamed as Ben-Gurion University after Israel's founder and first prime minister, who held a strong belief that the future of the country lies in this region. After Ben-Gurion's death, the University has renamed the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

The Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, with around 20,000 students and 4,000 faculty members in eight schools, is one of Israel's leading research universities. Ben-Gurion University has five faculties with 51 academic departments and units, namely, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management.

The Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has five campuses namely the Marcus Family Campus, the David Bergmann Campus, the David Tuviyahu Campus, the Sede Boqer Campus, and Eilat Campus. These campuses are home to multiple interdisciplinary research institutes. The University is well known for its rich campus life with unmatched growth and development.

The University ranked 46th in the world rankings of universities with sustainable policies.
