Hasanuddin University History

Hasanuddin University was established in the year 1956. It is a public university which is situated in Makassar in Indonesia. It was named after the former king of Gowa Kingdom, Sultan Hasanuddin. It was formed out of Faculty of Economics of University of Indonesia and its roots were kept in 1947.

Hasanuddin University Programs, Courses and Schools

Hasanuddin University is organised into 14 academic faculties, one medical school and one graduate school. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs. Students can also go for research, study abroad, language course, e-learning, short courses, summer programs and theatre courses.

It comprises of skilled and experienced faculties most of whom hold doctoral and master’s degrees. Post doctoral courses and research projects are also offered to the students. It is known for the international programs and research workshops and conferences organised by the university.

Hasanuddin University Campuses

Hasanuddin University has modern campus with eco-friendly surroundings and campus security. Student services include cafeteria, innovation units, internet access, online services, theatre, recreational area, sports facility, pool, student support services, transportation and auditorium. Academic and cultural events and activities are organised throughout the year. Journals and publications are published by the university.

University library is equipped with books, repositories, journals, theses, study material, dissertations, archives, catalogues and documents. Other services include study rooms, computer systems, tutorials, e-services, borrowing services, help desk, printing access, training rooms and projected rooms.

Hasanuddin University is the largest autonomous university of Indonesia. It comes among the top 9% universities of the world and among top 20 universities of the country. It comes among the top 10 universities of the country according to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Webometrics has ranked it among top 2000 universities of the world. Its students have won various competitions, both on and off campus.

Students are awarded with scholarships and grants by the university and also by the government. Students have to meet the set criteria and apply for these.
