Institute of Space Technology History

Institute of Space Technology also colloquially referred to as IST is a Pakistani public university located in the capital city of Islamabad. The university was established under the directive of Pakistan National Space Agency in 2002 and offers programs in Astronautics and Astronomy.

Institute of Space Technology specialises in offering programs related to Astronautics and Astronomy. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in subjects such as Aeronautics and Astronautics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics.

Institute of Space Technology also offers programs in Material Sciences, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Space Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences and Technology. The university also comprises of a research center for Remote Sensing and Geo-Informatics.

Institute of Space Technology has a suburban campus spread over an area of 73 acres outside the city of Islamabad in Pakistan. The campus comprises of a number of modern buildings which house the faculties, departments, research centres, and university offices.

Institute of Space Technology offers facilities such as laboratories, classrooms and lecture halls, libraries, and dedicated study spaces. The university also offers cafeterias, gymnasium, tuck shop, laundry facilities, and halls of residence on its campus.

Institute of Space Technology is ranked amongst top 400 universities in Asia in the Asian University Rankings 2020 compiled by QS Top Universities. The university is also regarded as one of the top universities in the country by Pakistan Higher Education Commission.

Institute of Space Technology has also partnered with prestigious universities such as University of Surrey in the UK and Beihang University in China to to offer a range of UG and PG programs. The university is also ISO certified.

Institute of Space Technology USP

Institute of Space Technology is at the forefront of research in Pakistan’s effort in the field of Aeronautics. The university also launched the country’s first cubesat satellite called the iCUBE-1 in year 2003.

Institute of Space Technology also offers a number scholarships to students which include up to 100% tuition fee waivers, HEC Scholarships, Ehsaas Scholarships, and need-based grants. The university also offers a few student exchange programs in China and the UK.
