Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda History

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda was established in the year 1881. It is a public and state university which is situated in Vadodara in India. It was started as the Baroda College but became university in 1949. It was started by the Pratap Singh Gaekwad of Baroda who was the last Maharaja of Baroda State.

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda Programs, Courses and Schools 

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is organised into 21 academic faculties and institutes. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral courses to the students. Students can also apply for research and virtual learning programs. Each faculty consist of various departments offering education in different fields.

There are more than 1200 faculties recruited out which most of them hold doctoral degrees in their area of study. The university is known for performing high scale research and publishing the journals and publications. It is an highly ancient university and is known for the learning it offer.

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is spread into six campuses out of which 2 are rural and four are urban campus. Student services include campus security, education centre, facilitation centre, healthcare centre, cafeteria, computer centre, auditorium, athletic courts, gym, pool, recreational area and theatre. Students can become the member of student clubs and organisations. University media has radio station and university press.

Smt. Hansal Mehta Library is the central library equipped with books, journals, catalogues, theses, magazines, volumes, documents and guides. Students and faculties have access to research facilities, computer system, e-resources, study area, lecture halls, internet facility and databases.

Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is the highly recognised university of the country. QS BRICS has ranked it among top 410 universities of Asia. Times Higher Education has ranked it among top 1001 universities of the world and top 400 universities of Asia. QS India has ranked it in top 70 of the country. NIRF has ranked it 14th for its Pharmacy education in the country. It is an A accredited university.

Scholarships of various categories, loans and grants are awarded to the students every year. Students have to apply for these according to their eligibility.
