The National University of Distance Education (UNED), known in Spanish as the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, is a distance learning and research university founded in 1972.. The University awards degrees from undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as non - degree qualifications such as diplomas and certificates or units of continuing education. UNED combines traditional on - site training with programs for distance learning. UNED is Spain's largest university with over 260,000 students and Europe's second largest.

UNED enrolled in a total of 27 EHEA Bachelor's degrees, 53 Master's degrees, 44 PhD programs, more than 600 continuing education courses, 12 language courses, more than 100 summer courses, almost 400 University Extension courses, access to college for those over 25 and 45 years of age, or Senior UNED courses over 55 years.
