National University of Kharkiv History
The National University of Kharkiv also known as Karazin University of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the major universities in Ukraine and is located in the city of Kharkiv. The university was established in 1804 by the efforts of Vasily Karazin. The university is second oldest in the country after the University of Lviv.

The National University of Kharkiv offers a wide range of programs across 19 faculties and departments. The departments and faculties include Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, Economics, International Economic Relations, and Tourism, Foreign Languages, Medicine, Geology and Geography, History, Mechanics and Mathematics, Law, Physics, Philology, Philosophy, Psychology, Physics and Energy, Radiophysics, and Sociology.
The National University of Kharkiv is home to three institutes of technologies catering to the researchers and the academic community. They are the School of Physics and Technology, School of Computer Science, and School of Energy Physics.

National University of Kharkiv’s campus in Kharkiv houses the Main Building, Northern Building, and a Central Scientific Library. The buildings house administrative blocks, lecture theatres, laboratories, and various other study spaces.

The National University of Kharkiv is one of the handful universities to be awarded by the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the Order of the October Revolution and the Order of Peoples' Friendship by the Soviet Union. The university is 2nd in Ukraine for its number of citations and publications.
The National University of Kharkiv is ranked the best university in Ukraine and 410th in the world by QS World University rankings. Moreover, the university’s School of Medicine and School of Biology are highly ranked subject-wise in the country.

The National University of Kharkiv offers study abroad and student exchange opportunities via Erasmus and various partnerships. The university welcomes the number of students each year for its summer school program.
The National University of Kharkiv has a low acceptance rate owing to its strict admission policy. Students are selected on the basis of an entrance test and previous performance. The university is one of the few universities in the world to continue publishing its journal ‘Scientific Notes’ since 1874.
