Osaka University is a public university which was established in 1919. The university is located in Suita, Osaka, Japan. The university is the sixth oldest university in Japan and one of Japan's National Seven Universities. The university has two other campuses located in Toyonaka and Minoh. 

Osaka University’s Suita campus has five faculties; Faculty of Human Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering. The campus also contains the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences and a portion of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. The campus is also home to the Osaka University Hospital and the Nationwide Joint Institute of Cybermedia Center and Research Center for Nuclear Physics. The Toyonaka campus comprises five faculties; Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Engineering Science. It is also the academic base for Graduate Schools of International Public Policy, Language and Culture, Information Science, and the Center for the Practice of Legal and Political Expertise. The Minoh campus is home to School of Foreign Studies, Research Institute for World Languages, and Center for Japanese Language and Culture. The university, in total, comprises eleven Schools, ten Graduate Schools, two University Hospitals, and five Research Institutes. 

Osaka University has more than 24,000 students which include 16,000 undergraduate students, 8,000 graduate students, and more than 1,780 international students. The university has more than 3,000 faculty members. 

Osaka University provides scholarship opportunities to the students on the basis of academic excellence. The university comprises the Osaka University Library which is divided into four parts; the Main Library, Life Sciences Library, Science and Engineering Library, and International Studies Library. The Library supports education and research activities by providing a wealth of data and relevant information and organizing a support system for users. The university is the 4th best ranked higher education institution in Japan (63rd worldwide) in 2018 by the QS World University Ranking.
