Petronas University of Technology History

Petronas University of Technology colloquially known as UTP and Universiti Teknologi Petronas is a Malaysian higher education establishment located in Seri Iskandar, Perak. The university was established in 1997 by Petroleum National Berhad or PETRONAS and currently enrols over 8000 foundation, undergraduate, and graduate students.

Petronas University of Technology specialises in offering Engineering, Science, and Petroleum related programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels across three faculties which include Faculty of Engineering, Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, and Science and Information Technology.

Petronas University of Technology offers Foundation Programs, Bachelor Degrees, and Master’s Degrees in Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Geosciences, Physics, Information Systems and Technology, and Chemistry.

Petronas University of Technology has a rural campus located in the state of Perak in Malaysia. Petronas University of Technology offers one of its kind Student industrial internship programme where the students are placed in the industry for 28 weeks to understand practical implementation of their study in addition to a number of scholarships and tuition fee waivers to deserving students.

Petronas University of Technology is accredited by Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia and attracts a number of international students each year. At present, over 20% of its student body is represented by international students from over 60 countries.
